Ayurveda

What is Ayurveda?

Ayurveda is a traditional system to bring about health and healing that was born in India approximately three thousand years ago.

 The hallmarks of ayurveda include:

Respecting the uniqueness of the individual

Taking into account all aspects of an individual – body, mind, spirit

Offering natural approaches to disease treatment and the promotion of health

A strong emphasis on preventative care

Empowerment of the individual to take responsibility for their health

Being effective in terms of desired results

Due to its special nature, Ayurveda is truly the “art of living”.

My Ayurveda Story

Like many people, I came to Ayurveda because I was not feeling well and was looking for a natural approach to address my concerns.  I was in my early 30’s and luckily, there was a skilled practitioner in  my area.   This experience planted a seed within me that germinated fully soon after I began teaching yoga.  I started studying Ayurveda in earnest along side of yoga as I delved deeper and deeper with my formal training.  While yoga fulfilled me on many levels, adding in Ayurveda, really gave me the tools to living in tune with my own nature as well as the world around me.

Since I never do anything halfway,  if I’m interested in something, I’m all in.  Once my 500 hour yoga teacher training was completed, I turned my attention fully to Ayurveda – first studying for a year with Susan Weis-Bohlen, author of “Ayurveda Beginners Guide” and “Seasonal Self Care Rituals” and then, with the Kerala Ayurveda Academy to earn my Ayurvedic Wellness Counselor Certification.

Working with me to begin or enhance your Ayurvedic practice

The heart of Ayurveda is understanding ourselves.  From there, we learn how to treasure our unique biology and take care of ourselves working with simple, natural approaches and techniques.  In working with me, the first thing we will discover is who you are from an ayurvedic perspective and what imbalances you are currently experiencing.  We will take into account all aspects of your life – your lifestyle, environment, and innate tendencies.  From there, an initial plan will be constructed for you to bring more balance and harmony into your life incorporating dietary changes, daily routine, yoga, meditation, breathwork, and simple herbal and oil therapies.  I will work with you to help make the changes and adjustments to your lifestyle in a way and pace that works for you.  We will refine your plan throughout the course of the sessions.   It would be my pleasure and honor to work with you to explore how Ayurveda would benefit your life.

For new clients, we start with three private sessions.  The first session takes about one and a half hours.  The second and third sessions take about an hour each.  The sessions are spread out over the course of six weeks to give you time to work with the practices and experience the resulting changes.  Phone/email support is provided between sessions as needed.  The cost of the package is $350.  Follow up sessions beyond the initial package are $115 per hour.

In addition, I offer the following  services that may be added onto the initial three sessions or scheduled as follow ups – all are priced at $115 per hour:

Private meditation session

Private yoga session

Private chanting session

Grocery shopping  (additional charge of $35 per person if it is more than one person)

Private cooking classes (additional charge of $35 per person if it is more than one person)

Personalized season cleanse programs
